My cousin is engaged!

I just wanted to say congrats to my beautiful cousin, Mandy, for getting engaged! Mandy and her fiance, Justin, got engaged at Jekyll Island a couple weeks ago (how romantic). Here are some pictures of Mandy and I :)

This is Mandy and I on the left when she was 10 and I was (I think) 1 month old.  The picture on the right was taken a few months ago :)

What I'm Loving About Summer

So, its finally SUMMER! Since I am a grown up now (well, sort of) I still have to work.  However, I will not let work keep me from living it up this summer.  I am writing this blog to show a few trends I am loving right now.

OPI Polish will forever be my favorite nail polish.  Right now I am wearing "Thanks A Windmillion".  This color is the perfect spring/summer color.  This picture is of Lauren Conrad's nails.  She is the person I look up to for fashion and I saw this on her site ;)

I LOVE JEWELRY! Summer jewelry is my favorite because you can mix and match so many colors and make any outfit pop.

This is something I have not tried yet.  The "fishtail" braid.  I love this! Its so fresh and simple, perfect for summertime :)

Enter my favorite shoe.  Wedges.  Even though I am 5'8, I still wear them! Besides cowgirl boots, these are definitely one of my favorite shoes :)

I hope everyone has an amazing summer!  Xoxo

Another weekend on the road!

This weekend was another fun weekend full of shows! Friday night Cole's band played in Tifton, Georgia at a place called The Gin.  Saturday we went to Starkville, Mississippi and Cole's band performed at a place called Cowbells.

This picture (above) was taken Friday night at The Gin.

Cole chewing on a straw, tweeting, and driving.  Yeah we are safe....

My mom was my date to The Gin <3

This is Tyler (Cole's guitarist).  We stopped at a gas station and got ice cream :) Yep mine is the Spongebob one.

Hello Mr. Sanders ;)

I have a weird obsession with fancy water.  Seriously I get so excited over Evian and Fiji.

Stole a pic with the singer before the show ;)  I love my man so much!

Best. Popsicle. Ever.

Pretending I am on the Titanic outside of Hungry Howies.  You gotta have fun everywhere :)

Humor on the road can be found on a popsicle stick.

Old school.

These are just random shots from my crazy weekend! I love shows so much.  I sell merchandise for Cole so I get to meet and tell people about his music :)

Toadlick Music Festival

Right now I'm laying in a bunk on a tour bus in Dothan Alabama. Cole just put on a great show and Rhett Akins joined him on stage! Rhett is probably my favorite writer ever :) he sings my favorite song "That Ain't My Truck" love him! Goodnight y'all.

My weekend

This weekend has been extremely busy! On Friday Cole played an acoustic show at a bar called Floyd's in Americus, GA. I went and had a blast listening to my boyfriend and having a few drinks with friends. Saturday Cole had a show for an organization in downtown Albany at the Hilton Garden Inn which was fun! Oh and we got out in time to see one of Cole's friends at the State Theatre, Corey Smith (I'm a big fan) perform! He's awesome! Sunday we got up and went to my church, Life Christian, and heard a great message. After church I went with Cole to his band practice. Tuesday we are leaving for Nashville and I cannot wait!

Just another musician's girlfriend type of weekend!

If this blog is formatted funny, it is the first one I wrote on my iPhone ;)

What I do 40 hours a week

On the J-O-B

Last May I completed my Paralegal Degree. I work at a small law firm in Leesburg and I love every minute of it! Determined by the case, the paralegal job description can vary: doing paper work, helping attorneys, dealing with marriages, mortgages, wills, trusts and divorces. I work for a Civil Litigation attorney so we deal with the basic family law, Wills, Trusts, Estates, and Real Estate.

You must love coffee to deal with this demanding job!

My view is pretty nice throughout the day ;)

I encourage anyone to get into the Paralegal profession.

XOXO,

Lacy

Beating the Monday Blues...

Feeling the Monday blues? Here are some tips to beat them courtesy of www.growinghappiness.com :)

  1. Procrastinate feeling blue. Is a gloomy cloud forming above your head? Ignore it – you’ll give your attention to it later, not now.
  2. Wear your best clothes or the cheeriest colour from your wardrobe. You’d be surprise how much your clothes could affect the way you feel about yourself.
  3. Early start - bad things happen when you are late, the tension level is high, you are in a rush, you don’t have time for breakfast, when you arrive at your office, people are shoving work into your face. It may seem like a punishment to wake up earlier on Monday but trust me, when you have enough time to organize yourself, you’ll feel like you can conquer the day easier.
  4. Treat yourself in the morning – Sit down and eat. Enjoy your food. Monday is Pancake Breakfast day for me, so I actually look forward to Monday mornings. But eat well - although it’s ok to treat yourself, make sure you eat well. I have a good serving of fruits along with my pancakes. Have enough to drink too - your malaise could be a sign of dehydration.
  5. Have a list of why you’re having the blues – you might be surprised that there will be things on the list that you can easily work on to make your Mondays better. My problem used to be a completing work from last week (very difficult to gain momentum after a weekend break) which brings us to the next point:
  6. Complete as much work possible on Friday – you’ll have less work to worry about on Monday, which lead to the next point:
  7. Have everything laid out the day before – your clothes, files, etc. Saves you a couple of minutes in the morning so that you can concentrate on other, more important things.
  8. Plan your day in small gentle steps. Apply micromovements throughout the day. You can use a GTD system or simply divide your day into of 1/2 – 1 hour chunks with a goal for each time unit.
  9. Talk to a friend – it’s most likely he/she is having the blues too. Keep your conversation short. Remember this is about taking comfort in the fact that you aren’t alone in this, not an hour-long bitchfest about XXX from marketing.
  10. Listen to happy songs – a tune can affect your mood. Let cheery, happy songs be the soundtrack to your Monday.
  11. Dance - just move that body! Jog in place, stretch, do yoga. You’ll feel less lethargic.
  12. Laugh and smile. Recall happy memories or a good joke. If you can’t think of any, do it anyway (fake it till you make it) Some research is saying that even the thought of laughing raises your endorphin (feel-good hormones) levels and a fake laughter provides similar benefits to a real one.
  13. Affirmative statements – Today is a great day. I will complete my report today. Stick positive messages around your monitor and take them seriously.
  14. Choose to feel happy. If you don’t already know, being happy is a choice, so choose happiness!
  15. Buy something new for Monday – it doesn’t have to be big or expensive – a pen, a sketchbook, fancy post-it stickers. Monday is like a birthday for me- I get a present for myself nearly every week. I got myself a sticker for $1 today.
  16. Try something new - you’d be surprise how easy it is to feel energized by doing something you’ve never done before. A new dish, a new song, a new route to work.
  17. Start working. The thing about work is, it’s usually not the work that makes us tired, it’s the thought of starting work that makes us procrastinate and go into a cycle of unproductivity. Quit thinking about starting work and just work instead!
  18. Take short breaks – too much work can be overwhelming and when this happens, it is easy for you to give up. Remember to take short breaks to recharge. If your schedule allows it, you can also take a 10 minute nap after lunch.
  19. Plan something special for Monday night – meet a friend for dinner, rent a DVD. The day will be easier when you have something to look forward to.
  20. Do not get distracted. Youtube, Facebook, personal emails. Once you allow yourself to get distracted you will be sucked into hours of time-wasting activities. If you don’t have the discipline to limit your distraction to 10 minutes, don’t attempt to do it at all. Reading blogs like this is another time-sucker so now that you’ve reach the bottom of the list, why don’t you get working! :)
Hope this helps!

Tuesday Ten

Since it is "New Years Resolution" time, most of you would like to shed a couple pounds so I decided to write my Tuesday Ten blog about losing weight :) Here are 10 easy ways you can lose weight and become a healthier person courtesy of Readers Digest:

1. Only drink caffeine in the morning. Go ahead and have your routine cup of coffee, then drink water the rest of the day. If you are a soda lover like me, try switching a soda for a bottle of water once a day.

2. Bring the color blue into your life more often. There’s a good reason you won’t see many fast-food restaurants decorated in blue: Believe it or not, the color blue functions as an appetite suppressant. So serve up dinner on blue plates, dress in blue while you eat, and cover your table with a blue tablecloth. Conversely, avoid red, yellow, and orange in your dining areas. Studies find they encourage eating.

3. Avoid white foods. There is some scientific legitimacy to today’s lower-carb diets: Large amounts of simple carbohydrates from white flour and added sugar can wreak havoc on your blood sugar and lead to weight gain. But you shouldn’t toss out the baby with the bathwater. While avoiding sugar, white rice, and white flour, you should eat plenty of whole grain breads and brown rice. One Harvard study of 74,000 women found that those who ate more than two daily servings of whole grains were 49 percent less likely to be overweight than those who ate the white stuff.

4. Eat 90 percent of your meals at home. You’re more likely to eat more — and eat more high-fat, high-calorie foods — when you eat out than when you eat at home. Restaurants today serve such large portions that many have switched to larger plates and tables to accommodate them!

5. Eat slowly and calmly. Put your fork or spoon down between every bite. Sip water frequently. Intersperse your eating with stories for your dining partner of the amusing things that happened during your day. Your brain lags your stomach by about 20 minutes when it comes to satiety (fullness) signals. If you eat slowly enough, your brain will catch up to tell you that you are no longer in need of food.

6. Eat fruit instead of drinking fruit juice. For the calories in one kid-size box of apple juice, you can enjoy an apple, orange, and a slice of watermelon. These whole foods will keep you satisfied much longer than that box of apple juice, so you’ll eat less overall.

7. Get up and walk around the office or your home for five minutes at least every two hours. Stuck at a desk all day? A brisk five-minute walk every two hours will parlay into an extra 20-minute walk by the end of the day. And getting a break will make you less likely to reach for snacks out of antsiness.

8. Order the smallest portion of everything. If you’re ordering a sub, get the 6-inch sandwich. Buy a small popcorn, a small salad, a small hamburger. Studies find we tend to eat what’s in front of us, even though we’d feel just as full on less.

9. Substitute a handful of almonds in place of a sugary snack. A study from the City of Hope National Medical Center found that overweight people who ate a moderate-fat diet containing almonds lost more weight than a control group that didn’t eat nuts. Really, any nut will do.

10. Brush your teeth after every meal, especially after dinner. That clean, minty freshness will serve as a cue to your body and brain that mealtime is over.

Hope everyone had a great Tuesday!

My Surgery Friday the 13th

I had surgery on my hand Friday the 13th (I know scary right?). It all started when I went to see Dr. Williams at Orthopedic Associates back in December to drain what I thought was a cyst. Turns out, I had a tumor. TUMOR is such a scary word. When I went in for surgery I had my tumor removed and Dr. Williams said there was no reason to send it for testing because he was 99% sure it was not cancer!

Here are a couple photos from my weekend...

This is me after my surgery was complete. Needless to say I was a tad loopy ;)

This is how I spend my weekend, just me, my ice bag, and of course
the best nurse ever, Cole :)

If you knew me, you would know I never miss a party. The next night I went out with my boyfriend to see a friend's band play. We had so much fun! Of course, no glass of wine of because I was on pain killers ;)

It has been 3 days since surgery and I am still very sore and on pain killers. I went to the doctor today for a follow up appointment and for the doctor to change my bandages. The picture below is of my finger...I have 40 stitches (sorry if the picture grosses you out - just be glad I did not post the picture of the tumor during surgery).

I am going to have a pretty cool scar.

Work all week, play all weekend

Cole and I.

Every weekend you can find me supporting my man at shows ;) The picture below is from Cotton Eyed Joes 12/31/11.

Usually you can find me behind the merchandise table...but here as you can see I am on the front row having the time of my life.

When Cole is not playing anywhere we like to go do normal people stuff and hang out with friends. Here, we are at Stephen Harrell's house. Stephen is one of Cole's co-writers and it is nice to let loose and listen to some back porch pickin'!
Cole jamming with Brent Cobb and Brent's dad :) Brent is a writer who wrote "Tailgate Blues" by Luke Bryan.

Dating Cole has its perks :) I got to meet Joe Nichols!

As you can see I have busy weekends but I would not change it for the world :)

XOXO

Remember When?

These were probably the coolest brand of shorts ever (Umbro)

Back in the 90's when I was a little kid, this was one of my FAVORITE shows! I loved to watch it at my grandparent's house and find the little blue paw print :)

This was (and still is) one of my all time favorites. "Welcome to Goodburger home of the Goodburger can I take your order"?

If I had a dollar for every moment I played this I would be rich! Yoshi's Island is one of the best games ever.

Mine always died :(

Yep, I was a cool kid ;)

Introducing my boyfriend...

This is my boyfriend, Cole Taylor, he is not only the best boyfriend in the entire universe but he is also a very talented singer/songwriter. Cole and I met back in April of 2010 and I immediately fell for him. What girl could resist a guy that plays guitar and can sing? Not this girl hehe...Anyways I love Cole so much and thank God everyday for him. He has changed my life for the better and I feel I have turned into such a better person since I met him.

When I am not working at the law firm, I am selling Cole's merchandise at his shows. Above you can see my "other desk" aka Cole's Merch Table.

PS: You can purchase Cole's music on iTunes ;)

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year - Goodbye 2011!

Happy 2012!

WOW! What a year this has been! I spent Christmas with my family at my Grandparent's house. I must admit, I have the best family ever! This picture (above) is part of my family on Christmas. My Aunt, Grandmother, Mom, Me, and my Grandaddy.

This is my boyfriend, Cole, who joined us after spending Christmas with his family. Cole is probably the best boyfriend in the entire world, I know every girl says that, but mine is the best (lol). Cole gave me the prettiest green amethyst ring and a chi hair straightener, which was NEEDED ;)
Here is my ring! How pretty? I love jewelry so much and have wanted a pretty ring for a long time.

Another great part I love about Christmas is all of the fun parties everyone has. Above is a picture from the Hendley's annual "Tacky Christmas Sweater Party." Everyone had a great time sipping on egg nog and wine while enjoying some delicious finger foods. Of course, what is a Christmas party without the game Dirty Santa? The highlight of the game was when everyone exchanged gifts and one of the guys at the party opened a pair of chaps and decided to put them on with nothing on underneath! Out of respect for him, no pictures will be posted (even though a lot were taken by everyone).

New Year's Eve was spent at the beautiful Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach (above). Cole and his band played at a bar there called Cotton Eyed Joes for New Year's Eve. I must say, it was nice to get out of Albany and enjoy the nice Florida weather. We spent the entire weekend in Florida and I did not want to come back! I look forward to seeing what 2012 has in store for me :)
